As reported here in our last issue, our girl, the Oscar Award winner Lupita was in the neighboring Uganda the weekend of March 28th to continue with the shooting her latest film project. The film is being directed by talented director Mira Nair. The film is called Queen of Katwe and Lupita is starring as the mother to the brilliant teen. The subject of the film, Phiona Mutesi, grew up in abject poverty and thus lacked school fees to get an education. She made a decision to join the Sports Outreach Institute as a chess player and since then, life for her changed progressively and fast. The movie, which will also be shot in South Africa, is being produced by Disney.

Lupita Nyong’o has been on other projects lately, from being a Lancome USA ambassador to working on a film adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s Americanah. She’s also starring in Star Wars: Episode VII releasing on December 18th this year. We are wishing her all the best!
